Sour BlackBerry
A BlackBerry, at least the kind made by RIM, is not food. A personal digital assistant of any kind has no place at the table. Share a meal and a conversation with the human members of your family, not your handheld electronic device.
Nighttime Companion
If you're really going to unplug, put your BlackBerry away and plug it into its charger. Leave those E-mails and text messages for the morning. For real nighttime reading, go low tech and pick up a book.
Children Versus Technology
Do you really want to scroll through E-mails and text messages while your children are taking their first steps, rounding home at little league, or tip-toeing around in their first ballet recital? What's more important: helping your child with his or her first step or answering a colleague's E-mail?
Weekend Weary
What's the best way to utilize your BlackBerry during the weekend? Lose it. Okay, that may not be entirely practical, but if you have to use your PDA over the weekend, limit your use to 15 minutes in the morning and 15 in the evening.
All in the Family… Not!
While you may spend more time attending to your BlackBerry than you do to your loved ones, it isn't actually a member of your family. Don't bring your BlackBerry to family events. It may actually be more interesting to compose and read E-mails but it's just plain rude. Your family might be difficult to take, but they're all you've got.
Romance Wrecker
Want to a sure fire way to kill a romantic mood? Try staring into your Treo or BlackBerry's screen instead of your partner's eyes. Keep your focus on your partner and chances are you'll understand the original meaning of PDA (public display of affection).
